Grading Scale
CLASSWORK (25%)
Work done in class. Generally this will be an "A" or "F" grade. The instructor will check your work and if you cannot show work or don't have a significant amount of work you will receive no credit. All Labs will be considered classwork with some parts of the labs having homework as well. Some classwork assignments for the labs will be acceptable until 11:59 PM the day the lab is assigned.
HOMEWORK (25%)
Found on the website. Refer to the Homework section for details. The instructor may also assign homework to accompany the labs.
EXAMS AND QUIZZES (50%)
- Exams and Quizzes are weighted in the same category.
- Each quiz is worth 1 grade.
- The Exam is worth as many grades as the number of quizzes taken.
EXAMS
- There is one exam every quarter.
- There is a multiple choice section and a free response section.
- The multiple choice section is 1 hr 15 min.
- The free response section is 1hr 30 min.
- Exams will be graded following the Collegeboard Scoring guidelines.
- For the last quarter, a group project will replace the exam grade.
EXAM Grading Scale (Percentage based on score, letter represents range):
1 - D to F (dependent on score) [0-69%]
2 - C [70-79%]
3 - B [80-89%]
4 - A [90-99%]
5 - A [100%]

QUIZZES 3 Types:
VERBAL QUIZZES:
- For a short time quizzes will be given verbally and test concepts in syntax.
- Verbal quizzes will not follow the AP format for grading.
- Verbal quizzes will not award any partial credit.
PROBLEM SOLVING QUIZZES 2 Types:
- At some point, quizzes will switch to testing concepts in problem solving.
- Upon switching to problem solving, quizzes will remain that way for the rest of the school year.
- For problem solving quizzes students will receive an quiz sheet.
- There will be partial credit in a problem solving quiz.
- After the AP Exam in May there will be no more quizzes.
MULTIPLE CHOICE LIKE QUIZZES:
- If the problem solving quiz is multiple choice students will be able to write on and keep their quizzes.
- Some problem solving quizzes will be based off of multiple choice questions, but will not list answer choices.
- You must show work AND circle your answer to receive ANY credit on a problem solving quiz.
FREE RESPONSE QUIZZES:
- If the problem solving quiz is a free response questions students will neither keep nor write on their quiz.
- Some problem solving quizzes will be past free response questions.
- For free response problem solving quizzes no work needs to be shown; just the correct code.
